Pughoboto gets two new Govt Primary Schools

Kohima, May 20 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Roads & Bridges, Y Vikheho Swu today inaugurated two new Government Primary Schools (GPS) in Pughoboto sub-division under Zunheboto district.  

Accompanied by his wife Ahikali Swu, ADC Pughoboto Avelu Ruho and SDEO Vikuto and other officers, the Minister inaugurated GPS Natsumi and GPS Heboluqa.  

Addressing the gathering, the minister expressed hope that opening of the two GPS would help mould a good foundation of education while the children would be able to attain quality education.  

Swu further informed that with a view to encourage students of Pughoboto sub-division, he as the local elected representative will be soon launching a programme ‘Beyond Books’, where officers, musicians, entrepreneurs and artists will visit schools to have interactive session with students so as to motivate them not only towards excelling in education but also develop their skills and talents for sustainability in the future.  

Meanwhile, he pointed out that as part of the Year of Economic Development of Pughoboto, various projects have been initiated since 2013, including Piggery Project, Cycle Network, Tree Plantation, and Skilling Pughoboto and also holding Thuwuni.  

“We should use the equipments and materials to generate self employment while the piggery project and other agricultural activities should be a source of income,” the Minister added.  

Emphasizing on the important of planting trees, Swu encouraged the citizens to actively participate in tree plantation as it is not only for environment purification but a source of economic uplift in the long run.  

The minister, his wife and ADC Pughoboto also led in planting trees around the new schools.  

GPS Natsumi has 32 students and 4 teachers, while GPS Heboluqa has 33 students with six teachers. The schools were constructed through SSA funding while desk and benches were donated by Minister Swu.
