Pughoboto‘s 1st Inter-High School Sports Meet kicks off

Pughoboto, October 31 (MExN): The 1st Inter-High School Sports Meet Pughoboto was declared open by the EAC Pughoboto, Luchui Fithu at the Public Ground Pughoboto on October 31.

According to a DIPR report, GHS Pughoboto Town, GHS Lazami, DBS Lazami, New Foundation School and Mission School from Pughoboto are participating at the meet. 

The schools will compete in badminton, volleyball, race and tug of war.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Fithu noted education is not confined only to four corners of the classroom and must maximise exposure of students to develop their hidden talent, personality and leadership qualities. 

In this connection, she maintained that  the students should open up their minds for critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving, and engage in other curricular activities as much as possible, the report said.

Fithu also said that students should not be confined to classrooms, playing video games and watching videos in their mobiles but take active part in sports and games for overall development, it added.  

The meet was approved by the SDPDP Pughoboto with an objective to make education holistic beyond books, for better coordination among the schools and to engage officers posted in Pughoboto and schools through a common platform, the report further informed. 

The opening ceremony was chaired by Administrator NFS Pughoboto, AnitoSwu while the welcome address was given by SDAO Pughoboto Myanthung Patton. The invocation was pronounced by Associate Pastor, Youth PTBC, Gamalial. Special song was presented by Qhehuli Swu. The oath taking was administered by PET GHS teacher, Hokiqhe Sheqi.
