Purana Bazaar Tribal Council bans roadside vending of fish, chicken

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 26 (MExN): The Purana Bazaar Tribal Council, East, in a meeting held on September 23, resolved to strictly implement the order of the Administrator, East Dimapur to ban sale of chicken and fish within the jurisdiction of East Dimapur covering 7 wards.

Stating that vendors selling fish and chicken on roadsides were dirtying the locality, the Council has informed all those interested vendors to come and occupy the stall which is available at Purana Bazaar daily market.

Likewise, the Council also decided to allow the sale of pork and beef strictly in butcher shop only and not on the streets. In this regard, the meeting decided to implement the said order with effect from October 1, 2023 and evict all the street vendors if found carrying out business in the restricted areas.

The meeting also resolved not to allow shopkeepers to place their goods on the foot path of the shop as it invades the free passage of commuters and parking space of shoppers. Towards this, the council has cautioned those violating the directive would lead to seizure of the goods placed outside the shops.

The Council also decided to call for a blanket ban door-to-door sale of fish and urged upon the concerned individuals to come and do business in the Purana Bazaar daily market as stall is available for the same.

The Council also deliberated on the pertinent issue of drainage system in the 7 wards of Purana Bazaar. In this regard, it resolved to construct proper drainages sequentially giving due importance to all the wards. A proposal has also been forwarded to the Administrator of East Dimapur Town Council, it added.
