Pusa accuses DAN govt of rampant misuse of public funds

Kohima, April 7 (MExN): Congress candidate KV Pusa today stated that this year’s election is about two competing visions in India – “a plural, secular and inclusive vision represented by the Congress and a theocratic majoritarian communal vision represented by the BJP and its allies.”

A press release informed that addressing an election rally at PWD colony here, Pusa said, all the world governments have expressed view that once a hardcore Hindutva BJP comes to power, minorities across the country will face the brunt of RSS-BJP, one uniformed civil code, one culture that is Hinduism. “Nagaland as a Christian state should come together as one cutting across party lines and defeat the communal force,” he appealed.

He said, “like BJP which could not release a manifesto when northeast is already going to polls the Naga People’s Front (NPF) could not release manifesto,” adding, electorates have to know what is the agenda of the party for the state. “NPF needs to spell out or we will witness another last row occupant in the parliament.”

Pusa highlighted some of the Congress programmes listed in the manifesto such as health pension, free housing scheme, 10 crore jobs for educated unemployed youths, national youth policy, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan for creation of 70 new universities, easy loans up to Rs. 1 lakh for women, bank account for all citizens of the country, women empowerment and many more.

The Congress candidate also slammed the state government for alleged rampant corruption and emptying the state’s coffer at the cost of common people. He said all developmental activities have come to a halt due to rampant misuse of public funds. He also highlighted how NPF MPs have grossly pocketed Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme. So far NPF have not reacted to the siphoning of funds by its MPs, he added.

Pusa assured to work for inclusive development “unlike the NPF whose policy is for exclusive where it has created a wide gap between haves and have nots.” He also assured for equal distribution of funds for development with a thrust area on women, youths and people in rural areas.

Stating that Congress is for peace, progress and prosperity of state like Nagaland, he alleged “the state has never witnessed a corrupt government like the NPF which has taken state backward.”  Several hundreds of people attended the last rally of the Congress, said the release.
