Chiephobozou (MExN): Adding weight to the declaration of the year 2006 as “Year of Farmers” as well as propagating the essence work culture among the Nagas, the Construction Division, PWD (R&B), Chiephobozou has taken up a novel step by launching a garden here for the staff.
A good number of the staff participated in the jungle clearing today. The seedlings are expected to be planted by the first week of April.
“In addition to the part of observing the “Year of Farmers, we would like to create awareness on work culture through the cultivation of ginger in our department garden,” said Er. Vekho Swuro, Executive Engineer, Construction Division, PWD (R&B), Chiephobozou.
Er. Swuro exuded confidence that the department would earn something from this garden in addition to their monthly salary. He also said the Division was intending to sell some products and contribute it to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The staff of this Division, he said, will utilize at least two Saturdays of a month for social work in this garden.
Lauding the new move, PWD (R&B)’s Additional Chief Engineer Er. Viketoulie said that the time has come for the people to work with their hands in order to reduce too much dependence on others.
Truckloads of essential commodities pass through the state from outside every day but it went back empty, Er. Viketoulie regretted and challenged the people to actively involve in the agriculture activities to boost the economy of the state.
Every people should work with their hands, he said, adding the fertile land like Nagaland would not refuse any crops.
We must work together vigorously and show an example to others, he said, adding “We must keep work culture in our heart.”
