
Dimapur, Nov 1 (MExN): Perhaps for the first time in the history of Nagaland, a team of internationally renowned educational psychologists will be conducting a series of workshops and giving lectures on the topics of ‘attitude re-orientation, positive thinking and effective behaviour’ for the students, teachers and parents of G Rio School on November 2 and 3 at Kohima.
The team of experts includes Dr Raj Sethia, an educational psychologist, and his two associates from Sweden – Ann Jonsson and Ruth Wallengren. Dr Raj Sethia who is an internationally renowned educational psychologist, and currently employed by the World Bank, Washington DC in USA as a Change Management Consultant has very rich experiences of working with children and youth in USA, Germany and India.
Dr Raj Sethia will interact with the youth about psychological issues relating to universal concept of peace and tolerance, leadership and assertive behaviour, interpersonal skills and positive conflict-resolution, effective communication skills and adolesence behavioural psychology. While teachers will be receiving first-hand knowledge on attitude reorientation, heuristic pedagogy, value-based learning and innovations in teaching methodology to make their teachings in the class rooms more effective.
He will also interact with the parents about issues relating to parenting, early childhood learning, child development, child psychology which will focus on difficult childhood behavior, besides he will personally interact with the parents and give them useful tips on ‘How to maximize the learning potential of a child’.
Dr Sethia’s has been recognized as an expert in the field of psychology and toward this end he has taken a lot of initiatives some of which are; global youth leadership course, a parenting movement with international network called Mothers’ Interact, a Home Management course for the Woman of today called Dahleez and Learning Park which is an innovative action research project on education.
According to the Board of management of the G Rio School, the aim of inviting the international experts is to provide to the children of Nagaland a kind of education that reaches the international level in quality and also to create an opportunity for spreading awareness about the glorious ‘Naga tradition and culture’ to the world.
