Quality education is the need of the hour: Kesonyu Yhome

New GPS and GMS School building inaugurated in Bade Area

Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): The development of mindset can come from education and therefore, provision of quality education is the need of the hour, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome IAS said on Friday.  

Yhome who is also the Chairman of  District Mission Authority (DMA), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) said this while inaugurating the the new Government Primary school at Upper Bade and new school building at Government Middle School, Bade village under Dhansiripar Block, on May 6.  

Focus more on development of mindset rather than infrastructural development, he added, calling for a good sustainability plan for the asset created.  

To this end, Yhome emphasised the importance of “Nagaland communitisation of Public Services and Institution Act,” where management responsibilities of elementary schools were passed into the hands of the local community. The unique partnership between the government and the user community should be properly maintained. The VEC and the SMC members should be well versed with the contents of the Act so as to execute the role and functions responsibly, he pointed out.  

The Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO), Dimapur   R Amongla Jamir who was also present at the inauguration, called for collective responsibilities between the department and the village communities in maintaining and managing the school.  

“This will result in provision of quality education to all and be a role model in the field of good school management and good governance,” she added.  

The program was attended among others by Coordinator, EBRC Doyapur and its staff; President, Western Chakhesang Hoho; Teachers; Village Education Committee members and School Management Committee members of the neighboring villages; Members of Bade village council and its sub committees and well wishers.
