‘Questions of illegality of TR government null and void’

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): The NPF party which supports the government headed by Chief Minister TR Zeliang today issued a statement in response to MLA Yitachu’s speech during a sit in protest in Kohima on August 11.

A press note from the media cell of the party termed it “really confusing to follow his speeches since he calls for restoration of the Constitution of India and ends up saying to allow him to use his own Constitution.”

It reminded Yitachu that “both petitions filed by them in the Kohima Bench and the Guwahati High Court were dismissed. To make it simple for him to understand, their petitions were simply found to be legally untenable and hence dismissed by the Hon’ble Court.” But instead, he is misinterpreting the law and the Constitution and misleading everyone with ill-advice, it claimed.

It further asked the MLA “not to blame the NGOs, Tribal Hohos, organizations, intellectuals, RTI activists etc.”

“Blaming the Governor for interfering the inner party issue and entire Naga people for not speaking up in your tone, makes one wonder whether all the Nagas are registered NPF workers?” it added.

The press note meanwhile said that the MLA’s “efforts in trying to equate inner party issue with our Naga struggle will hold no water and this small NPF issue cannot be compared and clubbed together with our Naga aspiration.”

It accused the MLA of poorly judging the “rest of Nagas, apart from his highly intellectuals group numbering a couple of hundred who stages protest at the governor’s gate.”

It asked him to “approach the right authority if you want your unconstitutional issue to be resolved” and said that the “questions of illegality of TR Zeliang’s government be treated null and void.”
