Rabi Kisan Gosthi at Yongam Village

Longleng, July 29 (MExN): KVK, Longleng ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region organized a daylong Rabi Kisan Gosthi on July 28 at Yongam Village. Altogether 141 number of farmers and farm women from Yongam and Nyang village participated in the programme.  

Y. Denngan Avennoho Phom, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng District graced the occasion as chief guest. The DC advocated the gender equality and appealed the Phom male people should work together with their wife and children. Phom people should not be dependent on credit system and they should become active in farming activity. He appealed the farming community to dedicate their labour for the development the society to make India as super power.  

An exhibition followed by the inauguration of the Rabi Kisan Gosthi was organized for showcasing new technology extended in the farmer’s field by KVK, Longleng.  

Dr. P. Chowdhury, SMS (SWCE) has showcased and explained different technology to the Chief Guest and farmers attending the Rabi Gosthi. The Chairman of the Yongam village expressed his gratitude to KVK for introduction of new technology and distribution of seeds, input materials and training for the farmers whereas Chairman of Nyang Village shared his experience on KVK training on mustard and onion cultivation and harvesting of 117 kgs mustard from which he got 57kgs of mustard oil.

The Programme Coordinator, Dr. K.L. Meena tendered the welcome address whereas Dr. Manoj Kumar delivered the keynote address.   During Scientist-Farmers’ Interaction, oilseed and pulses cultivation in rice fallow, application of neem oil for insect pest management, vegetable cultivation practices, oil milling techniques, rainwater harvesting for pulses cultivation, irrigation for pulses and off season vegetables and Pradhan Mantri Sinchay Yojana (PMSKY) were discussed.
