The “Radio Kisan Diwas 2025” celebration was held in Kubolong Hq, under Mokokchung district on February 15. Organised by Akashvani Mokokchung in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung. The event highlighted the role of radio in agricultural awareness and addressed key issues affecting farmers.

In his keynote address, Habemo Ngullie, Programme Executive at Akashvani Mokokchung, emphasized the significance of Kisan Vani Diwas in recognizing farmers’ contributions and promoting discussions on agricultural challenges, market access, and sustainable farming. Dr Keviletsu Khate, Head of KVK Mokokchung, stressed the importance of soil and water conservation, citing concerns over soil acidity and herbicide overuse. He encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable practices and utilize government programmes like soil health cards and FPOs for better agricultural outcomes.

Imo Jamir, Block Development Officer of Kubolong, highlighted former Prime Minister Charan Singh’s contributions to farmers’ rights and stressed the importance of local governance in rural upliftment. He urged farmers to actively engage in government schemes and decision-making processes.

The event also featured farmer testimonials, technical sessions on livestock health and soil management, and the felicitation of notable farmers for their contributions to sustainable farming. Experts from KVK Mokokchung provided hands-on guidance, distributing vegetable seedlings and veterinary medicines. The programme concluded with traditional presentations by local farmer groups and a vote of thanks by Imtisenla, ACTO (Agronomy), KVK Mokokchung.
