‘Rahul Gandhi beat empty drums’: BJP

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nagaland State Unit has dubbed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi as “Congress’s little Price,” who does not want to understand the Naga people and Naga youths problems. Criticizing the Congress leader, the BJP stated that Gandhi during his recent visit to the State only beat empty drums just like his predecessors have done. “Every Congress leader who has visited Nagaland has upset the general public sentiments. They always show up empty handed and deliver only mind boggling speeches,” the BJP in a press release issued by Vice President, K. Medom Angami stated.
The BJP stated that Gandhi’s visit held high expectations for many Nagas but during his public address, Gandhi only criticized the NPF instead of focusing on the State’s economic crisis. “He started with his favourite song- youths join politics, students come and join politics,” the BJP stated.
The BJP stated Gandhi spoke at length about lacks of proper roads; people living below the poverty line; price rise and corruption, etc. In this regard, the BJP stated that there is no denying Nagas are facing all these problems owing to corruption. However, if Gandhi is aware about the plights of Nagas and that NPF has been misappropriating funds provided by the Centre, the BJP stated the Centre should constitute a fact-finding committee or send a central investigating agency to nab the culprits.
Attacking the Congress led UPA government, the BJP stated that the UPA is not determined to check corruption and neither is the NPF government in Nagaland. It stated that both are mocking the Naga public and branded them as “birds of a feather.”  The BJP reminded the public that when NDA was in power, Nagaland was kept in a special category and all possible help was extended for all round development of the State. But the UPA government is faced with corruption charges which has become a routine.
