Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): Indian Youth Congress (IYC) President Rajeev Satav today denied “all rumors” of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s “impending visit to Manipur and Nagaland.”
A note from Delhi from the IYC on Friday from Satav dismissed as “rumours” all talk about Gandhi’s visiting the two north-eastern states. The note was appended by Permanent Secretary, IYC Nitin Sharma.
“Shri Satav said Shri Gandhi is likely to visit Nagaland and Manipur sometime in November once the organizational elections for the IYC and NSUI are announced in the two states. Usually Shri Gandhi visits a state, when organizational elections are announced there,” the note said.. “In any case, Shri Gandhi is believed to be out of the country at the moment,” the IYC added.
SKK ‘welcomes Rahul’s visit’
Even as the IYC has rubbished Rahul’s reported visit to Nagaland, the All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) today “wholeheartedly welcomes the visit of honourable MP Rahul Gandhi to Lumami. NU students are well prepared for the high profile visit and expecting a lot out of his visit.”
“In the course of our visit, we learnt that the main persons behind the entire issue of opposing Rahul’s visit, was the high ranking officials of NU Lumami. We have learnt the genesis and the background that led to opposition of MP Rahul Gandhi’s visit. Therefore, we would only caution those officials to stop politicizing and play divisive politics in the entire issue,” the SKK said in a note appended by its president.
“As we have known the entire in issue in black and white, the SSK wholeheartedly welcomes the visit of honourable MP Rahul Gandhi to Lumami. NU students are well prepared for the high profile visit and expecting a lot out of his visit,” the SKK added.
