Railway Protection Force recovers illegal e-tickets 

Maligaon, May 13 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway raided five agencies in different locations during May 10 to 12 to check illegal sale of railway tickets. The team recovered 50 e-tickets worth more than Rs 70,000 and also arrested seven persons.

A joint team of RPF, New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri on May 12 conducted a raid at ‘System Solutions’ located at DBC Road, Siliguri (West Bengal). Five railway e-tickets worth more than Rs 12,000 along with one computer set, one printer and two mobile phones were seized. 

The owner of the shop was apprehended and a case was registered at RPF Siliguri outpost.

RPF of NF Railway also recovered a total of 45 railway e-tickets worth above Rs 59,000 during raids at four agencies located at New Alipurduar, Alipurduar, Coochbehar & Tinsukia. During the raid from May 10 to 12, six persons were apprehended from the shops along with computer accessories and some cash.

During April 2022, RPF of NF Railway had apprehended nine persons involved in touting activities. A total of 56 railway e-tickets were seized from their possession that worth more than Rs 80,000. 

The arrested persons were booked under section 143 of Railways Act for further proceedings, stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
