Railway Protection Force rescues minors, women

Maligaon, February 10 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway rescued six minors and two women during ongoing checking & drives conducted from February 6 to 8 at different trains and railway stations over NF Railway.

During the month of January 2024, RPF of NFR rescued 41 minor boys & girls and six women with the arrest of two human traffickers. The rescued children and women were handed over to respective Child Line/NGOs, parents & GRP.

In a recent incident of February 7, RPF staff of Rangapara North Railway station rescued two runaway minors along with a woman from Rangapara North Railway station. On the same day, RPF staff of New Coochbehar station rescued one runaway minor girl from New Coochbehar station. All the rescued minors along with the lady were handed over to GRP/Rangapara North and an NGO of Coochbehar for their safe custody.

On February 6, RPF team of Alipurduar Jn., New Bongaigaon & Dharmanagar railway station conducted checks at the respective railway stations. During the check they rescued three minors, one each from the respective railway stations. Later, the rescued minors were handed over to Childline and parents for safe custody.

On February 8, RPF of Chaparmukh Railway station rescued one runaway woman from Chaparmukh Railway station. RPF team of ‘Meri Saheli’ of NF Railway provides assistance to the women passengers travelling alone in trains, stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
