Railways to begin computer based test for notified vacancies from Dec 15

Maligaon, September 13 (MExN): Starting December 15, the Indian Railways will begin computer based tests for notified vacancies, officials informed on Sunday.

The North East Frontier (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda issued a statement on September 13, informing that the computer based tests would be applicable for the 35, 208 vacancies for non-technical popular categories like guards, office clerks, commercial clerks etc (NTPCs), 1,663 vacancies for Isolated & Ministerial categories (Steno & Teachers etc) and 1,03,769 Level 1 vacancies (track maintainers, pointsman etc) that were recently notified by the national transporter.

Overall, Railway Recruitment Boards across the country have notified a total of 1.40 lakh such vacancies for NTPC categories, Level-1 Posts and isolated and miscellaneous categories. It has received more than 2.40 crore applications, it said.

The Computer Based Test (CBT) for the vacancies had to be deferred due to COVID-19 pandemic and resultant lockdown which was imposed throughout country, it added.

However, with the easing of restrictions and the conduct of JEE and NEET examinations, it was felt that Railways too can start the process which had to be stopped due to COVID pandemic, Chanda stated.

SOPs for conduct of examination of this magnitude are being framed and necessary action has been initiated throughout Indian Railways in this regard, he added.
