Raising awareness on importance of knowing one’s status

  Mon, December 2 (MExN): The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, Mon in collaboration with TI, NNP+, Aboi with support from NSACS and Project AHANA observed World AIDs Day at KNSK Hall, Aboi under the theme ‘Know Your Status’ on December 1.   Briefing on the significance of the day, Longyim Tzudir, DPO, DAPCU said that this year’s theme focuses on raising awareness about the importance of knowing one’s status and calling for removal of all barriers to accessing HIV test. He urged everyone to come forward to get tested for HIV which is voluntary and free of cost at government hospitals.   A silent moment was observed for paying tribute to those who lost their lives to HIV, stated a press release issued by the DPO.   Dr Ajit Kumar, SMO, CHC Aboi shared the basics about HIV and the advantage of timely access to care and treatment services, while Shongmet K, President, KNSK, Aboi Unit in her short speech urged all to lend their unconditional love, respect, help and support to the PLHIV community and assured that they are always there to extend support in every possible ways they can.   Voluntary testing for HIV, STI and blood grouping was conducted by Mobile ICTC and CHC team after the formal session. The programme was chaired by Wanmei K, PM of TI NNP+ Aboi, invocation was pronounced by Yanching K, Pastor, NBF, Aboi.
