Rampant money collections by NPGs in Dimapur: PAC

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The Public Action Committee has expressed concern at reports of rampant and unabated collection of money by various Naga Political Groups (NPGs) in Dimapur.

A press release from the PAC condemned such collections when business was hampered badly due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. “The business fraternity is still finding it hard to pick up the normal tempo and burdening business people at such a time is not sensible,” the PAC said.

It further expressed shock that the groups are collecting money in the name of Christmas, and termed this as “totally against Christian principles.” It urged the Naga political groups to “rein in its cadres not to abuse and blaspheme God that will bring wrath on our people.”

It further reminded that collecting money amidst ongoing peace talks is “totally unreasonable.” The PAC instead urged the Naga political groups to show seriousness by “not angering and displeasing the business fraternity in particular and public in general.”

It meanwhile appealed to the police to be more vigilant as customers from other districts are flooding in to Dimapur for Christmas shopping. The PAC informed that it has received complaints about bag snatchers in and around the city and asked the police to take action.
