THE HERAKA community today paid rich tributes to Rani Gaidinliu, legendary freedom fighter, at a colorful function held here.
Professor Gangmumei Kamei, a former Minister from Manipur who attended the celebration of the Rani’s 90th birth anniversary as chief guest recalled the contributions of Late Rani Gaidinliu in preserving the culture of Nagas from foreign invasion.

Prof. Kamei said that many people, especially the Christian missionaries have a wrong notion on Heraka cult, and said that it is nothing but monotheism.

The Professor, who had written a book on her, said that Rani Gaidinliu was a victim of British colonial policy and mistrust of the Nagas.
