
Chümoukedima, December 20 (MExN): Uttar Pradesh was comfortably set at 400 for 3 at stumps on day 1 of its Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A game against Nagaland at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima. Put in to bat first, UP dug in for the day with a 247 runs opening partnership. According to an NCA release, openers— Madhav Kaushik and Dhruv Chand Jurel (Wk) scored tons with Jurel remaining unbeaten 6 runs short of a double ton at the close of play.
Their partnership was broken by a brilliant catch by Joshua at short leg, affecting the dismissal of Kaushik, who was at 107, off a delivery by Jonathan Rongsen. The wickets of Priyam Garg (10) and captain Karan Sharma (14) followed over the next 20 overs, claimed by Rongsen.
