The Regional Administrative Officer (RAO) and the Guard Commander of Ao Region, GPRN/NSCN was reportedly abducted by the NSCN (IM) early Friday morning from Tzuremen village area under Mokokchung district. According to GPRN/NSCN sources, the RAO and the Guard Commander identified as Merentoshi and Major Tongpang along with three other cadres were camping in a forest in the Tzuremen village area when they were surrounded by the NSCN (IM) cadres at around 2:30 am and taken into custody.
Three of the GPRN/NSCN cadres managed to escape from the vehicle they were travelling, reportedly to a designate camp of the NSCN (IM). All the three cadres who managed to escape sustained injuries. Shots were also fired at them but the cadres miraculously escaped only with wounds, the GPRN/NSCN source claimed. The two GPRN/NSCN leaders of the Ao Region have not been released and still under the custody of the NSCN (IM), the source informed.
