
Dimapur, January 10 (MExN): Two girls, one of them 15 years, were raped on different occasions on New Year’s week, one in Kikrum village in Kohima and the other in Padam Pukhri in Dimapur. The second alleged rape is said to be by three immigrants. It is understood that the victim was physically challenged and handicapped. The reports follow another case of sexual crime reported on New Year from Phek that two minor girls escaped an attempt to rape by five persons.
The Lotha Union of Purana Bazar today expressed anger that a girl from the community, name undisclosed, was raped by 3 non-locals and all immigrants on January 9 at about 7:30 PM at Padum Pukhri. The accused have been identified as one Sirazul Ali, a Prem Bahadur Shanar and one Gopal Gurung.
The Kyong organization has condemned the alleged crime. A note from the union appealed to the law-enforcing authorities to punish the accused “to eradicate social virus penetrating in the Naga society.” The union also appealed to all right-thinking citizens and civil society organizations to condemn the crime ‘committed to physically challenged, handicapped and helpless person.’

He is “found to have raped” a 15 years old girl, name undisclosed, on January 3 at around 6:30 pm at Kikruma village.
The KWWS has condemned the alleged act. “This heinous crime is indeed a great insult to the modesty of women in general and a most alarming threat to the safety and equality of women in this modern society,” the KWWS’ leaders stated in a note today. The authorities in concern are urged to immediately arrest the accused and ‘award him with the most severe punishment as per the law of the land.’
All “sensible people” and responsible organizations are also urged to condemn crimes against women. The authorities are asked to strongly deal with “this kind of evil doers so as to avert this kind of evils in the society in the near future.” The press note from the Kikruma Women Welfare Society was issued by its President Nuthistsulu Puro and Secretary Vetolu Puro.
