Mokokchung, September 2 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare, Mokokchung District, launched the month-long Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024 on September 2, under the theme “Suposhit Kishori Sashakt Nari.” The launch event was held at the Sangtemla Community Hall, Mokokchung.
Dr. Kibangkumba, the Chief Medical Officer, delivered a brief speech highlighting the importance of immunization and breastfeeding. He emphasized that breastfeeding is crucial for the first 6 months of a child’s life, and should be continued along with appropriate complementary foods up to 2 years of age or beyond.
Thsuvisie Phoji, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung encouraged the various programs of the Department of Social Welfare to work in cooperation and coordination for smooth functioning and effective service delivery to the people.
The keynote address was presented by Mangliyangba, District Programme Officer, District Poshan Abhiyaan, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Chubatemsü Jamir, District Poshan Coordinator.
Rashtriya Poshan Maah, or National Nutrition Month, is a month-long campaign led by the Government of India that will be observed from September 1 to 30 across the country.
