
Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The Railway Contractors’ Union Nagaland (RCUN) has urged for public and State government’s support towards the railway authority for all round development of Dimapur Railway Station, the only railway station in the state.
According to Vihoshe Awomi, RCUN president, the union in its meeting held on June 23 last reiterated that the North East Frontier Railway is giving priority to convert Dimapur Railway Station, which is the second highest revenue earning station in the region after Guwahati, into a model station.
The union also urged the NF Railway to use Nagamese for passengers’ announcement inside Dimapur Railway Station.
The union further expressed appreciation to railway Ministry and the Government of India for giving priority to Nagaland and assured to extend its fullest cooperation towards the railway authority in the development of railway facilities in the state. It also lauded the railway authority for clearing the drain near the station which remained clogged causing water logging in the area.

Meanwhile, the union mourned the demise of Ihokhu Awomi, father of Niuto Awomi, Managing Director of N.A. Constructions and a member of the union, on June 19.
