Our Correspondent Kohima | February 10 The Nagaland State Rural Development department will be focusing on notable/special projects in all the districts to uplift rural economy. This special project is conceptualized to reduce poverty and enable people in rural areas to gain long term benefit. This was informed by RD Secretary, Kelei Zeliang during the inauguration of Tizu Area Sports Complex at Khuza, near Phek, which was constructed under MGNREGA Special Project 2015-16 through DRDA Phek. Informing that the department has already constructed a lot of roads across the state, he revealed that this time, the department will concentrate only 10% of funds on road while 90% of fund will be set for other sectors to promote economy of the rural populace. He added that the department will undertake large scale cardamom cultivation in 10 districts of the state, covering 5000 hectares. This will start from this year. Revealing that 1238 villages in Nagaland are currently getting funds from the RD department, he called upon all the concerned villages to judiciously utilize the fund.
