RD dept officials interacts with SHGs and VDB

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): The Village Development Board Association and Self-Help Group Federation, Niuland Block held a consultative meeting recently at Niuland town with the officials of Rural Development Department led by Block Development Officer (BDO), Kuputo Achumi.  The BDO Niuland stated in a press release that the officials highlighted about the various welfare schemes being implemented by the government to uplift the grassroot people in rural areas and also reviewed the progress of implementation of programmes. The officials underscored the need to revive work culture among the masses. 

The department will regularly inspect and monitor the schemes which are being implemented and also encourage the successful SHGs with a sole objective to uplift the economy and lifeline of the rural people. The department encouraged people to undertake specific projects which would successfully benefit the people. The department has also forwarded the proposal from the villagers for setting up of a rural bazaar at Niuland town to the state government. The meeting has decided to publish the latest block profile. The department insisted that participation of women in all the activities should be rather more than 33% instead of 33% this is to empower the rural women. 

The students from Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, who were on internship field study, were impressed with the implementation of various programmes at Niuland block. The students had an interaction with the members of the SHGs and VDB secretaries. The members of SHGs and VDBs appreciated the initiatives of the department to uplift the rural people through various programmes and assured to extend cooperation to the government. 

President of VDB Association Vikheyi and President of SHG Federation Catherine also expressed gratitude to the department for successfully implementing rural programmes under Niuland Block.
