Augmenting tourism and hospitality industry in Nagaland, Rüdi Resort was opened here today along National Highway- 29, Phek road (Dzüü Bridge One).
“The Resort has many services and facilities that anyone can enjoy- big open spaces, a pool which is great for beating the summer heat,” said Rüdi Resort proprietor Kevilhoutuo Yiese.
The Resort with a theme “In Nature’s Lap” offers 4 cottages and 3 double bedded rooms.
The Resort also has a Children’s Park with cycling for a unique and fun filled family or group experience.
It also has a Naga Morung built within the compound of the resort to reflect the unique architectural style as a people.
“We also have an in-house restaurant open to all with a seating capacity of 20-24,” he said adding that the Rüdi Resort aim to build a basketball court, an indoor stadium as well as a football turf in future for the better development of team spirit and foster closer family bonds through such sporting activities.
“The place I call home is blessed with natural beauty and a unique culture that has mesmerized many for years. As Nagaland has grown as a must visit tourist destination, I have always wanted to contribute to the tourism industry within my own state, and I hope that the Rüdi Resort in its own capacity will be able to not only contribute but also encapsulate all the warmth and hospitality of the Naga people,” Yiese said.
He informed that the name of the resort ‘Rüdi’ ..means ‘big river.’
He was optimistic that the resort would be able to meet the expectations of the community.
“This endeavor is not just an income generating exercise but one which is the need of the hour for both young and old, more so for the youth to have a healthy space for leisurely activities , a place to bond with family and friends,” Yiese added.
‘We are deprived from many recreational avenues’
Earlier, inaugurating the resort, Pele Khezhie, chairman D. Khel Council, Kohima village extended congratulations to Kevilhoutuo Yiese for his remarkable and exceptional achievement of completing Rüdi Resort, “one of the first resorts in Dapfhütsumia Khel.”
He also complimented Ki Designs, for completing their first project.
“Our society is such that we are deprived from many recreational avenues like cinemas, parks, orchestras, play courts, resorts, etc. Every now and then specially in the evenings we find young and old people alike loitering every nook and corner often bringing us a sense of displeasure or dislike even if their intention or activities may not be evil,” he said.
Stating that the people cannot always afford to blame or point its finger at the government for the lack of infrastructure or leisure facilities, he said “But similar to this very venture, we can come up with innovative ideas to entertain ourselves and contribute to the society at the same time.”
Stating that thousands of tourists from the country and abroad visiting the state every year, he said “This Resort will be a step forward to accommodate them and eventually leading to boosting our state's economy as well.”
Khezhie stressed on the need to construct a mini playground, court or parks, resorts, open gates to neighbors and young people for leisure activities.
Dr Ruokuovilie Sachü, pastor Khedi Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing. Khedi Baptist Church youth presented a special number. The programme was compered by Peteneinuo Sekhose while vote of thanks was proposed by Er Keviletuo Yiese, (Retd) chief engineer, power, Nagaland.
MLA Khriehu Liezietsu, Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) Chairman, Dr Kekhrie Yhome, Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board (NKVIB) Chairman, Dr Neiphrezo Keditsu and several other dignitaries also graced the grand opening programme.
