Re-polls conducted in 12 places

Re-polls in 12 polling stations, along with fresh polls in one station was held today across the state. Preliminary figures indicated that the voter turnout percentage for the re-polls was 73.05% or 5728 voters. This could however change as some polling parties from their stations were yet to arrive at their reception centers till late Friday night. Re-polls were held from 7:00am to 3:00pm in polling stations falling under Peren, Kohima Town, Chizami, Phek, Meluri, Tizit, Longkhim Chare and Pungro Kiphire.  

In addition to this, fresh poll was also conducted at Ladigarh polling station under 49 Tamlu A/C on March 2.  

While individual reports from each of the polling stations could not be had, the polling was reported to be overall peaceful. Reports from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations informed that re-polling at Upper AG colony, (PS. 29) under 9th Kohima town assembly constituency went off peacefully. Around 664 electors cast their ballots here from a total electoral roll of 967.  

Tight security comprising of Nagaland Police, CRPF and IRB Mahilas were deployed in and around the premises of the polling station, while live casting with additional CCTVs were installed for monitoring the electioneering process. Council members, volunteers took active part in manning the public for the peaceful conduct of re-poll. Around 68.66% voter turnout was accounted till the end of the voting hour here.  

Another DIPR report informed that re-poll at Polling Station No. 7/15 Samziuram ‘A’ Sector under 7 Peren Assembly Constituency, a seat occupied by incumbent Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, also took place in a peaceful manner. The voter turnout for this station was registered at 71.70%.  

The Nagaland Chief Electoral has meanwhile informed that he will hold a press conference at 6:00pm on March 3 at the Conference Hall, AMK Building, near CEO Office, Kohima.
