‘Realising past mistakes should lead to change’

FGN Tatar Hoho Speaker reacts to ‘confession statement’

Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): Realisation of past mistakes should lead to change, Speaker Tatar Hoho FGN/NNC Kunuchosa Rhakho has opined, while reacting to ‘confession statement’ by Zaleo, Killo Kilonser, FGN published in the local dailies on December 13, 2023.

In a rejoinder received here, Rhakho said that what one could understand from ‘confession’ that all throughout his 34 years as a national worker, Zaleo had been “deceiving his colleagues and FGN/NNC, trying to swindle the Naga people with all his fabricated and blatant lies thinking that it will cover up all his wrongdoings.”

Accordingly, he rhetorically asked whether the Killo Kilonser’s “…confession before mankind and God,” repentance, and resolution to strive to be a “sincere national worker” holds any water.

Can such a person can be trustworthy? It just a simple logic those like himself will join hands and work with together as ‘birds of the same feather flock together,' the Speaker asserted.

“I am very sorry to say this but at the same time I feel pity for him especially along with Gen (Retd) TM Keyho and others too who for the sake of keeping and holding their chairs is letting him dance in their tune...” the Speaker added.

Given the ‘confession,’ Rhakho also asserted that “Naga people should understand and see that there is not even an iota of evidence of truth in whatever rejoinder or counter rejoinder he had written against NNC/FGN in the newspapers.”

He also alleged that Zaleo “is only dancing in the tune of some businessmen and state politicians who doesn't love the Naga nation but wants to destroy the spirit of Naga nationalism as an alternative to beg few crore of rupees from Delhi.”

Nevertheless, the Speaker expressed happiness that he wants to strive to be a sincere national worker and prayed that he would be liberated from his admitted vices and talk about “national freedom and liberty of our people from the bondage of occupation.”

Meanwhile, given his resolve to be a sincere national worker, Rhakho said that by now Zaleo might have realised that Gen (Retd) Keyho “is no longer the legitimate President of NNC since he had already been impeached unanimously on September 23, 2023 during the Tatar Hoho of the NNC/FGN Executive Joint Meeting held at Khulazu Basa village.”

He also claimed that Zaleo might have released not that Gen (Retd) Keyho allegedly appointed Kuzholhuyi Vadeo as President of FGN secretly “at his own will” on February 7 2023, and demanded the resignation of sitting FGN President Vekronu Dozo on August 23, 2023 “without the consent or advise of the Tatar Hoho which was totally in violation of the Yezahbo under Art 23(a).”

It was the Killo Kilonser who then objected to the demand saying that it is totally against the Yezahbo, but he later swung his statement and began demanding the Dozo's resignation, Rakho reminded.
Accordingly, he wondered whether Zaleo was feeling ‘ashamed’ over his action and repented.

He also flayed the “dictatorial behaviours” of Gen (Retd) Keyho and maintained that the Naga people would never accept such forceful intervention by an individual “putting at stake the democratic way of NNC as well as the way of democratic life in the Naga society.”

The Speaker also accused him of secretly accepting the rehabilitation offered by Government of India after his release from an Indian jail in 1976 and rehabilitating “peacefully in Kohima.”

To those end, Rhakho appealed to all those like Zaleo “to renew their commitment and stand by our pledge to uplift and fight for our rights as declared in the Plebiscite of 16th May 1951.”

“If one should realise ones mistakes, one should plan for change, apologise and seek guidance but not remain in the same old ways and be with the same old company,” he asserted, adding that “acknowledging and understanding one's previous errors should prompt or result in a commitment to make positive changes.”

“Money, division, designated camps or Indian sponsored development is not the solution; Framework Agreement or Agreed Position is not the Solution; Rather, Unity, Integration and Sovereignty is the solution,” he added.
