Mokokchung: Programme for the launching of National Youth Policy and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan at Mokokchung was held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on March 6.

Sub-divisional Officer (Civil) Mokokchung, Rajish IAS, speaking on the occasion as the chief guest said that National Youth Policy, which focuses on the youth in India aims to empower youth to achieve their full potential. Describing youth as the future of the country he pointed out that the policy aims to prepare the youth with the required skills so that they could contribute to the progress of the country.

The chief guest urged the participants from different schools to make use of the opportunity that is provided by the Government. He exhorted the youth to realize their shortcomings and weaknesses and asked them to change and develop themselves to be productive. Rajesh maintained that if the individual were developed and productive, society would automatically develop.

District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendrasangathan (NYK) Mokokchung, John Makhabo in his keynote address highlighted the visions and objectives of the National Youth Policy and NYK and gave details on the implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) and the infrastructure and facilities for promotion of sports in the country.

The programme was followed by a rally from Imkongmeren Sports Complex to Police Point Mokokchung where hundreds of students from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mayangnokcha Hr. Sec School, Children School, Edith Douglas Hr. Sec School and Imsutemjen Memorial Hr. Sec School, Youth Leaders and NYC volunteers of NYK Mokokchung participated.
