Reappointment of retd officials under scan

Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): Questioning the purpose behind appointing ‘non-local retiring officers’ attached to the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, as Consultant, OSD, etc, to ministers and parliamentary secretaries, a press release issued by the secretary of Zunheboto district youth congress, Pukhazhe Kiho, blamed the government for diverting the state’s resources to outsiders who “have enjoyed enough.”

The note stated that extending the service period of these people for another two to three years has barred local educated youths from entering the services on time. Kiho stated that such appointments are evident from the fact that a certain stenographer has been ‘reappointed as stenographer consultant’ to the Home Minster. He questioned whether it is necessary for the government to keep a stenographer consultant to the Home Minister. Kiho also mentioned that the Minister for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry has also retained one such officer “on the pretext of handling office memos, circulars, etc.”

He stated further that “the non-local retiring stenographers are canvassing for their service extensions beyond the fixed length of superannuation age.” Kiho called on the public to check the menace together.
