Recall, recast PMJVK scheme submitted to Centre immediately, demands CNTC

Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council(CNTC) today demanded “immediate recall for recasting of PMJVK scheme already submitted to the Central Government by the State Level Committee.”

Reiterating its disappointment over the allocation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme for 2022-2023 in Nagaland, the Council pointed out that only  four districts - Dimapur, Kohima, Chumukedima and Niuland were approved by the government while the remaining districts were left out.

Accordingly, the CNTC demanded that the chief minister recall and recast the allocation of entire scheme under PMJVK 2022-2023 for the state, adding that it would be compelled to go for mass agitation on the failure to address the demand.

In a press release from its media cell, the CNTC also recalled that initially in the first notification only four districts were notified on the schemes but the remaining districts did not received any notification.

It was only after a demand by the CNTC on July 24 for the equal distribution of the funds that the state government issued another notification on July 26 for district-wise submission of the PMJVK schemes as additional proposals from the State, it claimed.

This was an afterthought action of the State Government, it alleged, adding that since the last date of submission of proposal to the Centre was August 6, it was “practically impossible to prepare the scheme within such a short period of time as it needed the approval of Block Level Committee (BLC) and district level Committee as required under Para 2.1.1 of PMJVK guidelines.”

Accordingly, the CNTC termed the July 26 notification as a “mockery and afterthought action of the chief minister as the documents of the four districts which have been allocated PMJVK schemes have already reached Delhi.” It further demanded on what basis the remaining 13 districts in the state will get the funds when it has been finalised.

The Council further asked why two areas- the CNTC and ENPO (Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation) areas have “always been ignored in all development fronts” The CNTC is not against any tribe or community or against development activities taking place in the state, but it is fighting for what was their due share and that funds should be equally distributed district wise, it added.
