Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): As strongly insisted by the people and the weight of ‘covenant of reconciliation’, the determination of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation stands, that the highest leaders of the Naga political leaders meet. The much hoped-for meeting of the highest NNC/FGN, GPRN/NSCN and NSCN/GPRN leaders was informed to be expected around September 18-25, by the forum yesterday.
This resolute stand of the forum to reconcile the warring Naga groups is strongly assured of support from another Naga frontal, the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO). “Naga people must unitedly and truthfully persuade the highest level of leadership of the Naga political groups to shed their differences, forgive one another and to reconcile on the basis of the historical and political rights of the Nagas,” the CPO said. The CPO today assured that its support to the forum’s effort stands. Yesterday, the forum had reminded that ‘genuine reconciliation’ in the Naga context is of absolute necessity.
The forum had stated: “The journey towards Reconciliation is in progress and there is no turning back! In the course of the last 31 months of Naga Reconciliation: A Journey of Common Hope, the need for a reconciliation meeting of the highest level of leadership of the Naga political groups has been repeatedly expressed by the Naga people.” The determination of the forum is based on the mandate given by the Naga people and with the affirmation of the three signatories of the Covenant of Reconciliation.
The CPO expressed happiness that the Forum for Naga Reconciliation is convening a meeting of the highest level leadership of the signatories of the “Covenant of Reconciliation”. This is in accordance to the wishes of all sections of the Naga people, stated a pleased CPO today in a statement of encouragement. “Towards this noble cause, CPO would like to extend its fullest support and pray that God will give all our leaders the courage to do what is right and what the people expects from them,” the Chakhesang frontal stated.
The CPO also expressed deep appreciation to Christian communities across the world and the Nagas’ own too, for ‘prayerfully remembering’ the Naga people on September 12, 2010, in the people’s search for peace and reconciliation. “Chakhesangs as one of the Naga tribes, who too has its own share of sacrifices, pains and sufferings, have been closely following the initiatives of the FNR and extending support and co-operation whenever possible. And we shall continue to support the idea,” the CPO stated.
