
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): Ahead of the planned meeting of the signatories of the Covenant of Reconciliation, which is expected to take place soon, the Chairman of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has send out a loud message committing to reconciliation among the Nagas.
“I am committed to reconciliation among the Nagas. For those who really love Nagalim, working for reconciliation is not an impossible task”, declared Isak Chishi Swu during his address on the occasion of the 32nd Raising Day of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim on January 31.
The message of Isak Chisi Swu was read out by Samson Jajo Chief Principal Secretary during the Raising Day celebration held today at Hebron Camp. Swu who is one of the signatory of the Covenant of Reconciliation pointed out that “if we are guided by the love for Nagalim for Christ, we will certainly find a meeting point for reconciliation”.
The Chairman during his message also disclosed that he had come to Delhi for the third time at the invitation of the Prime Minister of India for political talks. Swu thanked the Government of India for making necessary arrangement for his safe arrival in Delhi. Stating that political negotiation is always for arriving at an honourable agreement, the NSCN Chairman however reminded that any proposal which is acceptable to only one party is not for solution. “It should always be acceptable and honourable to both the parties. We are seriously seeking to arrive at an honourable political settlement”, Swu stated.
The NSCN Chairman also reiterated that the “integration of all Naga areas is our birthright” and that it was the “duty of every Naga to fight for integration of Nagalim at any cost”. “When other people are attempting to disintegrate Nagalim into pieces, how can the suffering Naga people watch helplessly?” Swu questioned and added that “every Naga is expected to participate in our struggle for the integration of Nagalim”.
Pointing out that the Naga people should be a prepared for any eventuality; Swu stated that “prepared people will never be disheartened” and that “only the prepared people are the people who are destined for victory”.
Chairman Swu further reminded about 31st January 1980 when the National Socialist Council of Nagalim was established on what he described as “the foundation of Naga History, Naga culture and Nagalim for Christ”. Swu stated that the NSCN was the “instrument of God for the liberation of Nagalim”.
