Reconciliation: World Baptist urge groups to stay committed

Dimapur, September 24 (MExN): The Baptist World Alliance (BWA) has offered encouragement to the Naga underground groups who had committed to the covenant, to remain committed. Reconciliation will take time but will make a lasting impact on the lives of the people, said an official message from the BWA received here today. The message was addressed to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation.

“We appreciate the symbolism of this covenant, and the impact it might have among the Naga people. We also understand that any process of reconciliation and healing needs to be nurtured everyday,” the message read. It was appended by BWA’s general secretary Neville Callam and BWA Director of Freedom and Justice, Raimundo Barreto.

The BWA said it is greatly encouraged by the news of the ‘September summit’ in Dimapur and the talks and mutual listening during the meeting among the leaders of the NNC/FGN, GPRN/NSCN and NSCN/GPRN.

“We renew our prayers for the Naga people in the midst of this process of reconciliation and for the leaders. We urge those who signed the covenant to remain committed to this reconciliation as it will make a lasting impact in the lives of their people,” Baptist World Alliance said in encouragement. “We trust that God will continue to bless you as you persist in striving together for reconciliation and peace.”
