Recoveries surpass fresh COVID cases in Nagaland

10 new cases detected on Tuesday 

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): Recoveries from COVID-19 surpassed fresh cases in Nagaland as 19 patients were cured while 10 new cases were detected on Tuesday.

Among those who recuperated from the disease, nine were from Kohima district, six from Dimapur while Mokokchung and Phek district reported two recoveries each. Out of a cumulative 35,803 cases, 33,451 have recovered from COVID-19 so far in the state.

The death toll in the state remained at 766 as no new fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily health bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, the 10 new cases were detected in Wokha (3), Dimapur (2), Kohima (2), Mokokchung (1), Mon (1), and Phek (1). 

A total of 121 samples were tested returning a daily positivity rate of 8.26 per cent and the number of active cases in the state now stands at 76, it said.

District-wise, Kohima district has the highest caseload with 31 active cases, followed by Dimapur with 13, and Mon and Wokha with eight each. Mokokchung has seven active cases; Longleng and Zunheboto have three each, while Tuensang, Phek and Kiphire have one active case each.

It must be noted here that data reporting for the new districts of Noklak, Niuland, Tseminyu, Chümoukedima, and Shamator are covered under former districts as there are no separate surveillance units yet for the new districts.

As per the IDSP bulletin, out of 76 active cases, 37 patients have mild symptoms and 39 were asymptomatic.

Only six of the active cases are currently admitted in COVID Hospitals while 70 are under home isolation.
