The state’s urban development department is planning to construct recreational parks at Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Wokha, Tuensang and Mon amounting to Rs. 6 crore as part of urban amenities during 2018-19. This was stated in the annual administrative report 2017-18 of the urban development department tabled in the recently concluded first session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Other intended activities include-construction of resting shed in Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Wokha and Tuensang amounting to Rs. 5 crore; and infrastructure development for soil stability measures, natural drainages, protection wall at Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Wokha and Tuensang amounting to Rs. 10 crore.
The proposed projects, however, depend upon fund availability and allocation by the state government, the report stated.
The department through the allocation of the state plan programmes like Neighborhood Development Scheme (NDS), Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme and Town Protection, have been able to cater infrastructure development projects in all the districts, it maintained.
However of late, with the paucity of state plan funding in the past three years, the department is unable to implement urban facilities as desired, the report added.
During the current financial year, basic infrastructure requirements of the district headquarters excluding Kohima and Dimapur was proposed and its implementation is dependent upon fund allocation, it stated.
