'Rectify artificial boundary'

Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): While stating appreciation to the DC Dimapur and DC Karbi Anglong for holding co-ordination meetings and discussing the land and other law and order problem, the Village Council of Dikoi Village Dimapur, has suggested for representatives from both side of the Angamis and Karbi Anglong.

A note addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Maongwati Aier, which was jointly signed by Phelutso Angami, Chairman, Dikoi Village Dimapur, Niesahu Chakhesang, VDB Secretary, Dikoi Village, K.V ABA GB, Diboi Village and T.L Angami, Advisor, Dikoi Village, stated that if both the DCs are really willing to maintain the age old relationship, the matter should be started from its historical background of how the Karbi Anglong (Mikiris) and the Angami Naga tribe were living together peacefully before both Nagaland and Assam attained their respective Statehood and also added that with the newly coming up of Assam Government or Nagaland Government are found difficult to bring any peaceful settlement between Assam and Nagaland without knowing the actual historical facts.

“Besides, the Dikoi Village which was recognized by the government of Nagaland within Nagaland has no dispute with government of Assam. And for which, the said status-quo should not be imposed over the Dikoi village,” the note stated. It also stated that there should be no confusion on the part of the present DC Dimapur as to why the Dikoi villagers are suffering and finding difficult to live in their own village at present and informed that it is because, the original boundary of Praru stream between Dikoi village and Aoyimkum indicated by H.K Hukalu, the then ADC Dimapur, was distorted by you on 13-10-08 and also allowed the Rangapahar Army to capture the 77 village land without any colour of authority. And as such, unless returned the 77 acres of Dikoi village land from the hand of the Rangapahar Army and also restored the original boundary of Praru Stream indicated by the then ADC H. K Khulu, IAS, the question of peaceful living in Dikoi village does not arise at all.

The signatories in the note requested the DC Dimapur, Maongwati Aier to once again rectify “your artificial boundaries and bring the actual area of land belongs to Dikoi village in order to maintain the original boundary of the Dikoi village. Otherwise at present there is no land to accommodate the villagers of Dikoi village.”
