
Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): A team of Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch and member from Kohima District Branch, IRCS visited the displaced Rengmas living in Karbi Anglong area and taking shelter in Chokihola relief camp in Bokajan area.
The Red Cross team provided 50 bags of rice, tarpaulin, kerosene stove, blankets, bed sheets, towels, petromax, kitchen sets etc. to the displaced people in a simple function held in the relief camp. The Vidhya Bhavan High School, Kuda Village Dimapur, Junior Red Cross members and teachers counselors and Sawathang Kez State Managing Committee Member, IRCSN who is also the President of the Rengma HOHO President donated Rs. 5,000 (Five Thousand) each to the relief committee for the displaced Rengma community.
IRCSN General Secretary, Zakie Kire in a press release stated that the relief committee members and the displaced people in the camp expressed their profound gratitude for the good will gesture made by the IRCSN and added that they have heard so many good things about Nagaland State Branch of IRCS. They were really overwhelm with happiness that the IRCS, Nagaland has come all the way from Nagaland to convey their love, concern for them, and provided the most needed food stock like rice, malaria drugs and other essential materials.
The team members of the Red Cross who visited the Relief camp were, Sawathang Kez M.C Member, IRCSN, Thinuozekuolie M.C Member, IRCS Kohima District Branch, Visiemetuo Kire Co-ordinator, IRCSN, Aphune Kezo, Zarano Kire, Alice Pamei and 3 Rengma members from Dimapur and was led by Zakie Kire General Secretary, IRCSN.
The team of Red Cross would like to put in record the effort made by Hushili IAS, DC Dimapur who is also the Chairman of Dimapur District Branch of IRCS, Chandu Agarwal Hony. Treasurer Dimapur District Branch of IRCS for their support in organizing the Relief programme and Akhrie-o Kire, Life Member IRCS & GB of Kuda Village, C. Khel for providing his Tata mobile for transporting the rice to Chokihola Relief camp as his free will contribution.
