Kohima, July 15 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland (IRCSN) held meeting with the respective Honorary Secretaries of all the district branches in Nagaland on July 13 led by officials from the state branch including Abeni TCK, Chairperson IRCSN and Dr Kepelhusie Terhuja.

Red Cross Nagaland had received 40 oxygen concentrators from its National headquarters. During the meeting, the oxygen concentrators were distributed to the district branches of the State. As per guidelines from the national headquarter, the district branches were allotted oxygen concentrators to be utilised wherever needed in consultation with the hospitals, health units and medical doctors.

During the meeting, the use of oxygen concentrators was demonstrated to the participants by Dr Kepelhusie Terhuja. Necessary guidelines have been issued as per NHQ directives, stated a press release issued by Dr Neiphi Kire, General Secretary, IRCSN. Other items including masks, utensils, blankets, T-shirts etc., were also distributed.

The house also discussed the need to be vigilant in the event of an unforeseen third wave and be prepared to address two issues namely vaccine hesitancy and COVID appropriate behaviours. The members were specifically asked to address vaccine hesitancy in villages where many are reluctant to take the jab either due to lack of information or superstitious beliefs. Meanwhile, the urgent need of ambulances for Longleng, Mon, Zunheboto, Peren and Noklak were also raised.
