My profession has taken me to many parts of this country and I have read different regional English Dailies and I consider Morung Express one of the best regional English Dailies that I have read. My attention was drawn to a couple of issues that appeared in your Daily dated April 17, 2014.
(1) There were two reports on Graduation Ceremony of theological students and I believe hundreds of youngsters will be graduating from various theological colleges this season. Such youngsters are supposed to be trained to follow the ways of God and to be future leaders of the Church and of the society. Yet, our society and our citizens seem to be only degenerating despite producing many hundreds of such youth over the years. Is there something wrong with us somewhere?
(2) One Dr. T. Lamkang had nicely written about how one time NBA star Michael Johnson used his hands to glorify God through the game of basketball. “….incredible hands God gave me,” said Johnson, “I do everything(with my hands) as worship unto God apart from the Church worship on Sundays where I lift up my holy hands to praise who He is.” Incredible athlete with incredible hands! How are we using our God gifted hands today? We use our hands to siphon off a portion of public/govt fund and even Church fund or use our hands to pass on some bribe or receive them when given. Most of the time we keep our hands idle at work or play some computer game or keep surfing the net or on a social networking site instead of doing the work that is required of us to do. We use our hands to pull a trigger to kill our fellow brothers or use our hands to thrash some fellow human being. We use our hands to encroach over public property/road and also neighbor’s land instead of protecting them. We use our hands to pluck an attractive flower/fruit/vegetable from our neighbor’s garden. We use our hands to kill someone’s chicken or dog in the neighborhood. We use our hands in many other wicked ways. I am not a preacher or for that matter, I am not even a regular Church goer but I am glad your Daily has reminded me that God has given me two able hands to do something good.
(3) Your Daily in the same issue reported that the Prime Minister of New South Wales (in Australia) Barry O’Farrel resigned for failing to declare receipt of a gift from a businessman. The gift was a wine bottle which cost 2,800 US Dollars. Such Strong conscience and systems that they have sounds unreal to us. Where is our Christian conscience and do we have any system that we can rely on?
