Mon, March 20 (MExN): The three-day refresher training on Routine Immunization (RI) under Universal Immunization Program (UIP) organised by District Health Society, Mon was inaugurated at the conference hall, District Hospital, Mon on March 20.

The goal of the training is to give medical professionals the know-how to administer vaccinations efficiently, guaranteeing that immunization programs are administered, stored, and monitored appropriately, eventually promoting illness prevention and child survival, stated a press release received here.  The training will be facilitated by state resource personnel Dr Imkongtemsu Longchar, SIO(UIP) and Dr Longri Kichu RMNCAH+N Consultant UNICEF and from the district, Dr Wungyong Konyak DPO (RCH&UIP) and N Changlang Konyak, VCCM.

Dr Imkongtemsu in his session provided an introduction and context on the goal of the training. Dr Longri mentioned that the rationale for repeating RI (UIP) training is that it is one of the most essential key indicators in all the health programs, as well as the most expensive program because it involves Vaccines and is constantly updated and evolving.

The sessions will cover key topics such as role of Medical Officer in RI; National Immunization Schedule; Microplanning; National Cold Chain Management Information System & eVIN; safe injection practice,  Infection Prevention & control, biomedical waste; Adverse Effect Following Immunization (AEFI) basics; Supervision & Monitoring; Vaccine Preventable Disease Surveillance; capacity building; responsibilities of Health workers in RI; Record, Reports and Use of data.
