
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): Refuting the allegations made against them by Sodzulhou village with regard to October 10 incident at the village, four persons who claimed to have purchased land there at different times, have said that their plots were instead encroached upon owing to which they went to the spot only to erect proper boundaries.
“But to our utter surprise and shock the villagers suddenly attacked us with machete, spears, catapult and guns without any reason, injuring three persons and destroyed one Maruti Car and Motorcycle,” stated a statement signed by Viravole Rhetso, Ministers’ Hill Kohima; Tohokhu Sema, Chekiye village; Ihoto K. Shohe, Thilixu village and Kodolhu Mowo, ex-chairman 7th Mile village Dimapur.
The four persons in a ‘complaint’ letter addressed to the DC Dimapur said they had purchased land each at 7th Mile Village from Kodolhu the chairman of the village. However, they said their land was encroached allegedly by Pelu Mao son of Late Dr. Hekha Mao by constructing fencing and erecting Transformer. It was stated that while they were dismantling the old fencing and constructing boundaries along with the land owner/seller, the villagers of Sodzulhou suddenly attacked them by throwing stones and chased them away from “our land.”
The signatories said they have “not done anything” against the village and did not intend to attack anybody as alleged and that there was “no dispute or connection between us.”
Further, they said that the allegation of attacking the village was “totally wrong and unfounded” describing it as only to mislead the public. They have requested the district administration to take immediate action against the people of Sodzulhou village and to compensate the damages.
Stating that the particular land falls under 7th Mile village, they said Viravole purchased his plot vide Sale Deed dated November 20, 2007, Tohokhu purchased on August 21, 2009 vide Sale Deed Regd No. 1104/09 and Ihoto purchased on October 23, 2009 vide Sale Deed Regd. No. 5514A/2009.
It may be noted that the Sodzulhou village has also claimed that the plot under question falls under its village i.e, 6th Mile.

Chakhesang Hoho & CYO condemn attack on Sodzulhou villagers
Dimapur, October 11, (MExN): The Chakhesang Hoho Dimapur District termed the attack upon Sodzulhou villagers on 10th October 2011 as ‘pre-planned’ and has out rightly condemned the act. According to the press note issued by Vekhosayi Nyekha, President, CHDD and Kiesalie Thopi, General Secretary, CHDD, the well planned armed group, numbering to around 100 persons with destructive and murderous weapons attacked the villagers’ unaware, injuring and hospitalizing seven to ten person and causing further damage on property.
The Hoho questioned the legitimacy of the attackers led by Thokhu Sema and Er Viravolie Rhetso and as to why matters could not be taken up the proper way. The note further stated as to “How can such serious and barbaric venture be taken on the pretext or reason that they have business deal with one ‘Kodolhou Movo’/ ‘Koza’ who is a fraud and has been cheating using various disguised names”. The Hoho, therefore, in condemning the extreme incident, appealed the District Administration and Police to arrest the culprits and award them benefitting punishment.
Ate Kapfo, President, Chakhesang Youth Organization and Abel Tureng, Joint Secretary, Chakhesang Youth Organization, also stated in another press note that the organization vehemently condemns the incident and has taken it very seriously and considered it as a challenge to the Chakhesang Community of Dimapur. The organization also added in the press note to arrest the culprits at the earliest before the situation turns ugly.
