KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today dismissed news reports concerning filing of a petition in Delhi High Court against the party as a rehash of earlier complaint and without “any merit.”
The petition is not a new issue but initially filed with the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 2018 by the same petitioner based on the allegations as the petition that has been filed with the Delhi High Court, asserted an statement issued by the NDPP Media & Communication Committee.
After hearing the arguments of both parties and after thorough deliberation and verification, the ECI dismissed the matter since the “allegations raised had no merit, it maintained.
Since its establishment in 2017, the NDPP maintained that it has consistently performed well in elections, securing victories in two General Elections, two Lok Sabha elections, and all subsequent bye-elections.
The party also recently dominated the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections across the state. Given its established success and recognised status with the ECI, the NDPP contended that any concerns regarding de-recognition or de-registration are irrelevant, it stated.
The NDPP also highlighted that while the petitioner has filed a case before the Delhi High Court, the hearing date has had to be rescheduled because the representatives of the petitioner failed to show up for the hearing which proved that they themselves are aware that the case is without any merit.
This absence, according to the NDPP, underscored the lack of merit in the case, it added.
Confident that High Court will dismiss the petition, the NDPP expressed respect for the judiciary and trust in a fair judgment. The party remains resolute that its stance will be upheld once the court examines the facts presented.
