Before release, Mohenjo Daro has earned Rs 60 crore

Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro has already collected Rs 60 before it even releases on August 12. Ashutosh Gowariker-directed movie has raked in Rs 45 crore from selling its satellite rights. The other Rs 15 crore have come from the sale of music rights. A R Rahman has composed the music for Mohenjo Daro. The estimated cost of the whole project, including publicity and advertising is Rs 115 crores, sources confirmed. Mohenjo Daro will now have to earn Rs 45 crore in India and Rs 15 crore in overseas market to break even with its overall cost.   This is good news for the makers of Mohenjo Daro starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The film will have a clash with another much-awaited movie of the year, Rustom. While many Bollywood stars including Salman Khanand Ranveer Singh have promoted Rustom on social media, Mohenjo Daro hasn’t got much support from the industry. Mohenjo Daro is, however, the bigger release with producer Disney’s muscle behind it. Mohenjo Daro is a period drama set during the Indus Valley civilisation. It has been directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.   The release that both films are getting is a reflection of their budget. Mohenjo Daro is releasing on about 2300-2500 screen. In comparison, Rustom gets 2000 screens and its budget is less than Rs 50 crore. This is the similar kind of divide which was seen when Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale clashed with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone’s Bajirao Mastani in 2015. Dilwale got a higher number of screens but the final box office’s tally was dependent on film’s script and performances.
