Release of BPL census for Nagaland

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The BPL Census was officially launched recently by Noke, minister RD & REPA, Nagaland at RD, Conference Hall. 

Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of the BPL Census which is an important official document prepared by the Department of RD and which also will be used by other allied Departments which look after the poorest of the poor in the State and in the Country for poverty alleviation schemes in their respective departments. 

Further he stated that the delay in publication of the same was due to the direction of Supreme Court which recently gave its clearance to go ahead with the publication.

The minister also attended the Sensitization Training on NREGA. Toshi Aier, Principal Secretary (RD) in his remarks on the training underlined the importance of BPL survey report and cautioned the officers against the tendencies to misuse the same as had been experienced in the past. Dr. K. Haloi, NIRD-NERC, Guwahati was the resource person for the training.

Metsubo Jamir, Director (RD) chaired the programme and welcomed the participants and announced the extension of NREGS to the 4 (four) Districts of Nagaland namely Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung and Tuensang. K. G. Himb Addl. Director, RD proposed the vote of thanks.
