In what will come as a welcome relief for the public of Dimapur, especially those frequenting National Highway-39 connecting Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, the State Bank of India, Purana Bazar Branch, on Sunday inaugurated its ATM located at its office premises just next to the busy NH-39.
The ATM was inaugurated by Tokheli Kikon, chairperson of the Naharbari Village Council. A press note issued by Bikram Singh, Branch Manager of SBI Purana Bazar, informed that the branch was in its second year of operations after it was inaugurated by the Governor of Nagaland on March 22, 2008. Singh stated that the bank was happy to offer the much needed ATM service to the people of Dimapur in general, and to its valued customers residing in the eastern parts of the town in particular.
“Apart from the ATM service, we are also offering various technology based (banking) such as internet banking, mobile banking, RTGS and NEFT, etc., for people who are intending to earn a higher profit in their investments,” stated the press note while informing that it had several systematic investment plans under an array of equity based mutual funds. We also have, on offer, a number of insurance products of the SBI Life Insurance Co. to suit all customers and clients, the Branch Manager stated.
“These are in addition to the traditional and conventional banking services and our endeavour is to present them with a marked difference in the area of customer service,” it stated while assuring that it will be making continued efforts to provide “customer comfort and offer a prompt and efficient service accompanied by a personal touch”, which it stated had been “greatly successful”.
The Branch Manager also invited all individuals, educational and other institutions and government departments that are particularly based in these parts of the town, to bank with the Purana Bazar Branch and take benefit of the tailor-made products that was on offer for each and every category of customers.
On Sunday, 154 SBI branches and 1540 ATMs were simultaneously launched across the country by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, from Jangipur in West Bengal. Sunday’s launch was the single largest SBI expansion programme. Nagaland also got the benefit of seven more ATMs on the day, three in Kohima, two in Dimapur, one in Mokokchung and one in Medziphema.
