Kiphire, February 19 (MExN): The Western Yimchungrü Hoho (WYH) today said that relief material comprising rice donated by MLA Torechu to the families affected by recent violence in Kiphire was destroyed to the maximum at Longmatra village on February 17. In a press statement, the Hoho condemned the act.
Expressing shock at disallowing the relief material to reach its destination Pungro to be distributed to hundred of homeless people, WYH in a press statement by its Secretary Lakui Kips stated all the right thinking citizens should condemn the act.
The organization said the “few” relief material which was not destroyed was escorted to Pungro Town with the initiative of Administration of Pungro Sub-Division and Longmatra.
The Hoho has urged the authority concerned to take stern action against those involved in destroying the relief material.
The WYH statement also informed that the truck which was carrying the essential relief material was halted at Ngoromi village in adherence to the first phase of agitation called by apex Sangtam organizations in all Sangtam jurisdictions.
