Sanuzo Nienu Director of Agriculture.
Medziphema, May 19 (MExN): The 32nd Parting Social of Nagaland University’s Medziphema Campus was held here on Monday, with the Director of Agriculture, Sanuzo Nienu, calling upon outgoing students to remain confident as they step into a new phase of life, asserting that the real journey begins beyond the university campus.
Addressing the gathering as the Special Guest, Nienu, himself an alumnus of the institution, recalled his first arrival on the campus in May 1986 and said he stood before the audience not merely as a Director but as a former student who once walked the same corridors.
Describing the university as a “second home,” he emphasised that beyond academics, college life is about friendships, memories, and experiences that last forever. Sharing humorous recollections from his student days, he spoke about practical classes, assignments, viva examinations, group projects, and educational tours that became cherished memories over time.
Highlighting values learned through agricultural education, Nienu stressed patience, perseverance, adaptability, resilience, and practical learning. He also expressed concern over the agricultural scenario in Nagaland, noting the continued dependence on agricultural scientists and the absence of a seed certification agency in the state.
While attitude may help secure employment, Nienu reminded the students, values ultimately define an individual’s identity.
The event, chaired by Shoiching Konyak H., began with an invocation by Hongam Phom, EU President, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Malini Barthakur Sharma, Associate Dean (Students’ Welfare). A presentation was given by Tialunla T Sangtam, Literary Secretary of NUSU-M.
Brief remarks were delivered by Prof. Pauline Alila, while Prof. Dipak Sinha, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University’s Medziphema Campus, delivered the exhortation, encouraging students to move forward with dedication, humility, and integrity.
Outgoing students from B.Voc 3rd Year, M.Sc 2nd Year, and B.Sc 4th Year shared their reflections, while Ilungding Nsa spoke on behalf of the remaining students. A special song was presented by the EU Choir.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Kohli S Sangtam, General Secretary of NUSU-M.
