On this fateful day the NSCN/GPRN Eastern Flank, with deep respect, solemn reflection, and a sense of collective remembrance, we honor the life and legacy of Chairman Isak Chishi Swu, a visionary statesman, a steadfast patriot, and one of the most influential leaders in the history of the Naga political movement.

On this solemn occasion of his 10th death anniversary, we pay our heartfelt tribute to a man whose life was devoted entirely to the identity, dignity, and aspirations of his people. Chairman Isak Chishi Swu was far more than a political figure, he was a symbol of resilience, wisdom, and unwavering conviction. Through decades marked by struggle, uncertainty, and complex negotiations, he remained guided by a clear sense of purpose and an enduring commitment to justice and peace. His leadership was defined not by force, but by dialogue; not by division, but by unity; and not by personal ambition, but by service to his people.

As the Chairman of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), he played a historic role in shaping the political discourse surrounding the Naga issue. His foresight and statesmanship were instrumental in initiating the peace talks with the Government of India in 1997, an important turning point that opened the path for dialogue over conflict. His contribution reached a significant milestone with the signing of the Framework Agreement on 3rd of August 2015, a moment that symbolized hope, reconciliation, and the possibility of a lasting and honorable solution.

What distinguished Chairman Isak Chishi Swu was his calm and composed demeanor, his deep spiritual grounding, and his remarkable ability to inspire trust across communities. He believed firmly that peace could only be achieved through mutual respect, understanding, and the courage to forgive. His leadership continuously emphasized reconciliation among Naga groups based on the principles of political and Historical rights of the Nagas, fostering unity as a cornerstone for progress and nation-building. On this day of remembrance, we not only reflect on his extraordinary journey but also renew our commitment to the ideals he championed, peace with dignity, justice with compassion, and unity with purpose. His legacy serves as a guiding light for present and future generations, reminding us that true leadership is rooted in humility, perseverance, and the unwavering courage to pursue a better future for all.

Chairman Isak Chishi Swu, while serving as then Yaruiwo and as the President of the CNC (Council of Nagalim Churches), played a profoundly transformative role in the spiritual and cultural awakening of the Naga people. He stands as one of the foremost pioneers of faith among the Nagas, being the first to courageously carry the message of the Gospel to the Eastern Nagas, leading to the remarkable conversion of more than 40,000 souls. This extraordinary achievement was not merely a testament to his spiritual conviction, but also to his unwavering dedication to the unity, identity, and moral strength of his people. Today, the generations that followed stand united under a shared spiritual heritage and bound together in harmony, guided by faith, and strengthened by a deep sense of collective purpose. His legacy transcends borders, as his evangelistic mission reached far and wide, inspiring communities across regions and even beyond the nation. In honoring his life and work, we also celebrate the enduring spirit of the Naga people, a spirit rooted in faith, resilience, and unity, contributing meaningfully to the rich and diverse fabric of our great nation. His legacy is a living flame that calls us forward.

As citizens and as a society, it is our responsibility to carry forward his vision with sincerity and determination. Let us strive to uphold the values he stood for and continue working toward harmony, inclusivity, and sustainable peace in our land. The message he strongly advocated for Naga unity, reconciliation based on political and Historical rights of Nagas, and peaceful resolution of conflict was Widely respected for his diplomatic wisdom, spiritual depth, and enduring leadership, must be honoured by the upcoming generation. 

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his enduring vision continue to inspire and guide us on the path of unity, reconciliation, and progress.
