Tseminyu, May 23 (MExN): The Rengma GB Association has extended support to the Rengma Hoho’s demand for creation of Tseminyu district.
President of Rengma GB Association, Kehoga Kent in a press statement apprised the State government that Rengmas played major role, politically and administratively, for the formation of Nagaland State. “Our (Rengmas) participation and contribution have presented the present state of Nagaland,” it stated.
Lamenting that a district for Rengma people remains overdue, the statement pointed out that Tseminyu stands as the oldest administrative centre in Nagaland since the time of British rule.
“Rengmas have the right to have a district at the time of the State implementation, but we were politically betrayed and snub in spite of our sacrifices for the identity and the integrity of the Nagas. Though political consideration has been granted to others, Rengmas have been deprived of district till today, which is our political and historical right,” it added. The Rengma GB Association also expressed confidence and trust in the DAN Government under the leadership of Chief Minister TR Zeliang and DAN Chairman & NPF President Shürhozelie to bring justice to the demand.
